Maids of Athena is the Junior Auxiliary to the Daughters of Penelope. Founded in 1930.

FEBRUARY, 1943: AHEPA Chapter 8, Shreveport, LA held 3 War Bond drives during the early ‘40s in order to help our country in its war effort. The 3rd drive began Dec, 1942 and ended Feb 22, 1943. This drive underwrote the purchase of a B-17 Bomber, its quota being $125,000, but Bond Sales exceeded $500,000. The aircraft was named after the Shreveport chapter, and the name printed on the nose of the aircraft was, SHREVEPORT AHEPA CHAPTER NO. 8. A lengthy article and photograph were printed in the Shreveport Journal, 17 August 1944.
